Periods make human life possible, and yet, we still have so many unanswered questions about basic period health. Society conditions us to think that periods are an inappropriate subject, and that needs to change. August, the lifestyle period brand founded and led by a Gen Z team, is on a mission to do just that – and this spring, they’re launching their first podcast, The Period Feels.
The Period Feels by August, the podcast where you can go for all your period-related questions & curiosities. With the company's recent success and virality on Tik Tok, the August team started seriously considering a new form of content they kept fielding requests for: a podcast.
The idea for the podcast came as a suggestion from community members who also collectively named the podcast, “The Period Feels,” as well as supporting in the brainstorming behind one of its segments, “Seeing Red” – where the hosts discuss examples of the period stigma IRL. August recently signed with production partner, DCP Entertainment, to support in the production and distribution of “The Period Feels.”
August is founded by Nadya Okamoto and Nick Jain, two recent college graduates who have built the brand with sustainability, impact, and community at its core. CEO and co-founder, Nadya Okamoto, currently hosts another podcast under the DCP Entertainment umbrella called Tigress. The August team has spent the last year working to collectively democratize access to period health education, identify solutions for more sustainable and impactful period products, and build community #innercycle.
The podcast hosts are a few of August’s founding team members, CEO, Nadya Okamoto; Content Director, Nadya Eddy; and Creative Producer, Sam De La Cruz. In this podcast, team August will discuss what they are learning along the way regarding entrepreneurship and period health. Releasing Ask August in early 2021, a free database filled with answers to all your period curiosities, opened the team's eyes to the demand for more accessible conversations about periods.
The first season of “The Period Feels” will be available wherever podcasts are streamed this March. In the meantime, you can find out more about August on their website, on social media, or join their Inner Cycle.
