4th Annual Redistribution Pledge: Ending Period Poverty

4th Annual Redistribution Pledge: Ending Period Poverty

Our Pledge

Although for many Thanksgiving is a time for deals and discounts, we're joining several other brands in the Pledge to redistribute a portion of our Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales to Black and Indigenous-led organizations.

For the 4th Year in a row, we're donating to The Kwek Society – a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating period poverty in Indigenous communities in the United States.

The main goal of this Pledge is impact, but, of course we're treating you to a discount until Giving Tuesday. From November 26th til December 2nd, you can get 20% off using the code THANKFUL2024 and 10% will be donated to support The Kwek Society’s period poverty & education initiatives. On Giving Tuesday, the donation amount will increase to 20% donated. *at no extra cost to you!*

The Kwek Society

As they work to end period poverty across the US, this Indigenous-led nonprofit also strives to celebrate individual dignity, agency, and success.

The Kwek Society relies on donors and support from brands like August to offer period supplies that eventually get distributed across 20 states (and counting!), serving students in more than 227 schools aka thousands of students each month. To date, they have distributed 4.3 million period supplies along with another 30,000 puberty education books and moon time and Auntie bags (larger bags that supporters sew to hold a full cycle of supplies. They love seeing the reactions of the students who receive these lovely larger bags.

Funds donated through August’s 4th Annual Redistribution Pledge will go directly towards The Kwek Society's supply distribution and, in addition to products, materials that offer basic puberty education.

"We hope you'll take action in whatever way you can to address it." To follow along and learn more about this campaign, follow @itsaugust & @thekweksociety on Instagram!
