Why are cardboard tampons bad?
Cardboard tampons aren't "bad for you", perse, they may just feel less comfortable for some people.
In the United States, tampons typically come with an applicator made of either plastic or cardboard. The goal for the applicator is to make insertion easier for you. The applicator design is similar to a syringe: a small tube slides up into a larger tube (where the tampon is located), and pushes the tampon into the vagina.
Since cardboard doesn't slide in as smooth, a tampon that has a cardboard applicator may feel less comfortable for some users.
August tampons come with BPA-free plastic applicators that were designed for even easier insertion with their smooth, rounded tip. Check them out here!
